What to Pack
Apart from yourself, your travel documents and your bank cards, almost everything is readily available in South Africa. Our region has plenty of modern shops, banks and pharmacies.
The weather in the Kruger Lowveld is generally very pleasant and one of our main attractions, where people come to escape from the cold weather.
In fact the best time to visit the region is during Autumn, Winter and Spring time (April to October).
Summer here is a whole different experience. It is hot and it presents a different kind of holiday vibe focused around water sports and visiting the cooler regions.
Regardless of the seasons, the Lowveld can have 4 seasons in one day and 6 in a week!
It can be hot during winter and it can be cold during summer. While you pack the majority of clothes according to the season, always ensure you have a couple of items for when the weather turns.
Don’t overfill your suitcases. You will come back with safari clothes, a lot of scarfs (you cannot resist to buy them) and souvenirs, so leave a bit of space.
Comfortable shoes are essential to enjoy our beautiful sites and hikes.
Make sure you buy a hat at one of your stops in South Africa. Even on cloudy days, exposure to the sun can cause sunburn.
Consult our weather app on this site to get a general idea of what you have to pack for the time you are travelling. Remember the weather can differ vastly between our towns, so be prepared for that.
