The husband and wife partnership of Johan & Vonja Coetzee founded Ecolux Boutique Hotels in 2012. In the little village of Komatipoort, which is close to both the border with Mozambique and the Kruger National Park, they created and constructed their first boutique hotel. Built in 2012, this modest but chic modern hotel began with 8 opulent rooms, but it quickly expanded to 17-including a honeymoon suite-and 19-including a room that is accessible to people with disabilities, a restaurant, and a spa. In its first year of operation, the SA Grading Council granted the Establishment a 5-Star rating, which it has kept for the last ten years.
The only luxury hotel of its kind in the region is the Komatipoort-based Ecolux Boutique Hotel Kruger.
