Just after passing Matsulu, on the N4 towards Malalane, take the R38 road to Lows Creek, which will lead you to Barberton. For a wonderful detour, take the Louieville dirt road that fringes along the Shiyalongubo Dam. Although tricky to navigate during the rainy season, this road leads through cool forests and scenic mountain views. Located on the top of a mountain, this hidden gem was built for irrigation purposes and now offers boats for hire and is a fishing destination. Small mouth bass, grass carp and red breasted bream are just some of the fish species found in the dam. Take a walk along the shore, take in the view and the crisp mountain air.
