On the R36, tucked away in a valley is the town of Ohrigstad. Founded in 1845 by the Voortrekkers, this the oldest town along the Panorama Route. The presence of Iron Age and Stone Age artifacts in the region suggests that the Pedi and San people once inhabited this area. Primarily a farming hamlet today, the town produces a variety of crops and features breathtaking natural landscapes, a pleasant climate, and a peaceful atmosphere.
