Bushman Wilderness Trail

R 13,238T&Cs Apply

This wilderness area, which is located in KNP’s southwest corner, is distinguished by tall rocky outcrops that offer breathtaking views and deep, peaceful valleys. The outside world cannot be accessed from these remote valleys. The rugged landscape is perfect for one-of-a-kind, safe up-close encounters with big game. Due to the abundance of elephants and rhinos, there is a well-marked network of natural game paths that make for comfortable trails to follow. The trail begins either a Wednesday afternoon to a Saturday morning or a Sunday afternoon to a Wednesday morning and lasts for three nights, with two walking days in between.
At the rest camp’s reception, where the trail begins, hikers arrive and check in. At 15h30, the trail ranger meets the group at Berg en Dal’s designated parking area. The trail only returns after three nights in the wilderness camp, so hikers need to be prepared, equipped, and finished with any last-minute shopping.
What to bring- Clothes ought to be practical and comfortable. Khaki and other neutral colours are best. Clothing that is brightly coloured should be avoided. T-shirts are not advised because they offer insufficient neck protection from the sun. You should pack an all-weather jacket and a hat. A tracksuit is a practical item of clothing that can be lightweight or woollen depending on the season.
Prior to the hike, shoes should be broken in, have thick soles, and offer adequate ankle support. You can wear sandals to camp. It’s optional to bring reference books, binoculars, walking sticks, sunscreen, and cameras.
Meals- Simple and filling meals that are cooked over an open flame or gas stove by a cook are provided. Hikers with specific dietary needs should be aware that while the trail can accommodate some (vegetarians, for example), it is extremely difficult to meet the needs of every single person. It is imperative to make prior arrangements in this regard.
Trail participants supply their own alcoholic beverages or other refreshing drinks. The bush breakfast consists of fruit juice, coffee, and tea along with drinking water. Each camp has a restricted number of cooling facilities. Abuse of alcohol will not be accepted.
