The Forestry Museum documents the development of the timber sector in South Africa as well as the evolution of forestry practices over time. Exhibits also emphasize the importance of forests ecologically and the ways in which technology has shaped the course of forestry history. Open Monday to Friday 08h00-13h00, 14h00-16h00 Saturday 08h00-12h00
The museum features some excellent exhibits of early human occupation of the area and the most notable being the Lydenburg Heads. There are also displays of military history, old gold mining tools and strategies as well as a number of cultural exhibitions featuring clothing, tools and materials used and much more.
